OMG, Speed, groups like MoveOn don't target and attack political candidates?

"Are donations to MoveOn Political Action and MoveOn Civic Action tax deductible?

MoveOn.org Civic Action is a 501©(4) organization. Contributions are not tax deductible because they will be used to influence legislation.

MoveOn.org Political Action is a federal political committee, and therefore contributions made to our PAC are not tax deductible. "

At least MoveOn.org is not hiding its intentions behind "Social welfare" language.

There are some liberal groups that do the same thing, like Priorities USA:

If nothing is done, then basically every PAC will be forming a 501c group supposedly independent of the PAC - both conservative and liberal PACs. They'd be dumb not to given the current way things are set up.

Here is a pretty good segment from Chris Hayes' show last night that delves a little more deeply into what is going on:

(Look for "There are two IRS scandals: one you've heard of..." and click on that. A new window will pop up with the video. There is a 30 second ad. The first minute or so isn't about the IRS thing, so you may want to skip that. The whole segment is about 15 minutes long, but his introduction is only a few minutes and is worth seeing in itself.)

From what I've seen the IRS really was just doing its job. Speaking as a board member of a 501c-3 non-profit, it is routine to have to supply a lot of information including a list of major donors. If these groups are following the law then they are fine. But many are obviously not following the law, both conservative and liberal advocacy groups. It's just that the conservative groups are overtly attacking political candidates which is such an obvious violation of their tax status.

501c4's are allowed to "attack political candidates." But that activity has to be limited to 50% of their resources.

They are different from 501c3 non-profits.

Really?
So President Obama is threating to punish the IRS personnel for " just doing its job."
And IRS officials are apologizing up and down for "just doing its job."
Really?...
