Thumbs up for Pacific Rim (possible minor spoilers)

It took me back to being a kid watching classic Sci-Fi monster movies on Saturday afternoons. I loved watching Mothra take on Gamera, and Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla all those years ago. Even the styling of the monsters reminds me of those classics. Add in giant human controlled armored suits, Ron Perlman and a few Kung Fu moves and it pretty much hits all the geek buttons.

What "GI Joe" or "Transformers" might have been with a director who gave a damn.

Still mostly mindless violence, but at least there was a semblance of a story and truly excellent cinematography.

Someone put a hell of a lot of planning into every scene and it shows.

I probably should have paid the extra $3 bucks for 3D.

I'll see it for free on DVD from the library in a few months.

It will look crummy on a small screen.

This thing deserves IMAX.

It is one of the rare 'must-see' 3D movies, in my opinion. Great effects and overall well put to use. The scale of the movie is pretty epic.

I thought it was really good as well. Definitely broguht back memories of all those old sci fi movies.

[spoiler=Did you see the scene at the end credits?]
Ron Perlman is alive and cuts his way out of the baby Kajei.

Absolutely agree. I saw it with a friend, in IMAX, and 3D. It was good fun. In the IMAX theatre, the sound is WAY bigger than the picture. The whole room was rumbling during the fight scenes.

Awesome!

rockem sockem robots meet Godzilla.

Too much of fighting between above to develop a straight forward story line. Less monsters on screen as in Jaws would have improved it a great deal.

Kids will enjoy
