Lomo is garbage.

You can get a vastly superior, smaller, lighter, cheaper, and faster 85 mm lens here...

Great comment...

looks like a perfect DIY lens, from a brass shell casing and broken window glass one can find easily in Afghanistan or Syria.

I don't see the reason for the snarky comments. Its a high quality effect in a world of instagram filters.

I agree, and from my experience there can be significant differences in what you bring home depending on what equipment you brought with you. With this lens you're only going to see things a certain way, and that limitation is its freedom to shape your outlook.

Unlike with a technically perfect one that lets --- or rather, forces --- you to make some creative decisions at home in front of a computer screen, selecting filters or whatever.

Even if the software can faithfully emulate the effect, it can't replace the experience that created it firsthand. I hope that makes some sense.

Yeah, I guess I just don't get the Lomo crowd.

The prices of their junky 35mm cameras are very expensive. You can buy a whole bunch of used high quality 35mm camera gear for what they're asking.

I don't get the Holga's either. Why would I want to buy a camera knowing that it's going to have light leaks? I could always just damage some of the light seals on a camera I already own...
