BBC Proms: Albert Hall "It was hot as Hades."
#1
That's right. It's 93°F and no A/C. (Here's that link to Mad Dogs and Englishmen>>>http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1,1587229,1587229#msg-1587229

The BBC reported Thursday on a performance of Wagner's three-hour Das Rheingold in which musicians sweated in heavy tuxes and gowns while the building’s Victorian-era ventilation system struggled to keep up.>> http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-23449567

"The cycle opened with Das Rheingold in sweltering heat (it was surprising the Rhine did not boil) on Monday."

Well, if there had been enough holes the suction would have reduced the heat a bit... :RollingEyesSmiley5:

Well, how many does it take...?

Although the holes were rather small, they had to count them all.

So someone somewhere knows how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.

Besides one hot day last week, it has been almost like spring temperature and rain wise here in Cincy. Only complaint is that I'm still cutting grass twice a week, in July!!!!

It should be burnt, brown, and dead ; )

On the last night of the Proms, they play a rousing rendition of Elgar's 'Pomp and Circumstance' (they add 'Land of Hope and Glory' and a loud encore).

Friend of mine was just there for one of the Proms. Left after the second movement, which is very unlike him.

Difficult for me to square that with the weather in the UK back in March, which was nothing short of frigid... snowed at least once all of the 10 days I was there, unheard of for southern England...
