'Sherlock' returns January 19th
#1
A date has been set for the return of one of television’s most eagerly anticipated shows: Sherlock Season 3 will premiere on MASTERPIECE on PBS on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 10pm, following the 9pm broadcast of Downton Abbey.

As in previous seasons, titles for the three episodes are pegged to a classic Sherlock Holmes title by Arthur Conan Doyle—delightfully, wittily, and briskly updated, of course.

“The Empty Hearse” – Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 10pm on MASTERPIECE

“The Sign of Three” – Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 10pm on MASTERPIECE

“His Last Vow” – Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 10pm on MASTERPIECE

Sherlock returns today January 1st and premieres on the BBC, I will be downloading it from the BBC iPlayer to watch tomorrow as our power went off just before it was due to start. Fortunately it is back on again now.

There was special recently, Many Happy Returns, that had some great background stuff and interviews, and no spoilers (unless you didn't see the finale of the last series).

For everybody so far, this won't be a spoiler, but just in case...
I hope they tell us how he pulled it off and not ignore it as though it never happened...
I can't wait!

You're lucky; our local station, KQED, the fallen star of the PBS, just shows pledgecrap these days.

I planned on doing the same, and today seems like a great day for that!

I'm really excited about it! I just wish there were more than three episodes per "season"!

Agreed, on both counts.

Many of the British shows are only 8-10 episodes a series (season). At 90 minutes, I wouldn't expect a "full" season, but six episodes spread out a little would be better for me than a mini-series, over, done, see ya in a year.

I'm rewatching the first two series, and just finished a study in pink.

This is a really great series, each episode produced like a movie. Love the dialog and music, especially. Brilliant, exquisite.

At least Jonny Lee Miller helps out.
