I'm tired of Winter already!

A fresh 8" being blown around...schools closed and people are calling in at my wife's office. And early next week it'll be even colder!

This winter has sucked so far.
I dragged my sick self outside to shovel last night fully knowing that we were only about halfway through about a day and a half of steady snow and don't regret it, as it will make the next round of shoveling easier...

Even though its going to be kind of unpleasant here in NYC, it's always funny watching the local TV news people ringing the Doom Bell.

Tonight Snow and blowing snow. Snow may be heavy at times after midnight. Visibility one quarter mile or less at times. Snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches. Windy and colder with lows around 16. North winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent.
Friday Mostly cloudy with snow likely in the morning, then sunny in the afternoon. Blowing snow. Total snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible. Windy and colder with highs around 19. Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Chance of snow 70 percent. Wind chill values as low as 6 below.

Here in NYC I was watching the news and they were showing footage of cars spun out on roads in LongIsland and plows pushing snow onto the side of roads. I looked out the window and there was only a light dusting so far. Not even an inch. It wasn't until I looked closer at the TV that I saw they were replaying footage from LAST YEAR. 2013. What the heck?!! They sure do like to sensationalize their newscasts.

Good grief.. the Weather Channel has named this particular storm "Hercules". I wonder how much they got for product placement from the upcoming film ? Confusedmiley-shocked003:

These negative sentiments regarding the current perfectly normal and acceptable meteorological conditions have to cease, they're driving air conditioning sales down.

I think you've got it, direct product naming of storms..following the path of The Preparation H Super Bowl.

Seriously, however, winter storm naming doesn't work because they are not compact, easily identifiable weather systems like hurricanes. I wouldn't be surprised to find out The Weather Channel marketing department spent their formative years writing ads for Microsoft.

But this is offset by all the panic buying at supermarkets and snowblower dealers.

OK, I was feeling sorry for myself since it's going to be in the 30's,40's and 50's here for the next couple of days and I truly detest cold weather. Thanks for the perspective. I'll be quiet, now.

We have dropped to 10º with a wind chill of -6º! I am also waiting for the snow to stop so I only have to shovel once more. Of course, that's until the next storm...
