Where Do You Read?
#1
Where in your home to you like to read? Sitting? Laying in bed? What?

I haven't been reading and my goal is to change that. I'm inclined to read in bed but can never seem to get comfortable. Lying on my stomach is hard on my neck and shoulders, and lying on my side also gets uncomfortable pretty quick.

Besides a comfortable place, my problem is my shattered attention span. Thanks internet!

I like to read in the bathtub, although that limits which books I can read since I am obviously not going to risk a $30 hardback.

And I like to read in bed. I just prop myself up with pillows and quilts and whatever else is handy and basically I'm sitting up. I have always been too cheap to buy one of those things with arm rests that you see now and then, I wonder if they work well

Books? E-reader? Laptop?

I used to do a lot of reading lying on/in bed (small apartment, no sofa). Unfortunately, the cubital tunnel problems I developed from doing too much work on a computer keyboard tended to be aggravated by position my arms were in when I read in bed. These days, I do most of my reading at the computer, or while traveling around NYC on bus or subway, either on my iPad or the old-fashioned way (paperback).

Couch.

On my back. Legs propped up on some cushions. Neck-pillow. Back of my head resting on the arm of the couch.

Or floor. (Carpet.)

Book propped up on some cushions. A cushion and a pillow under my chest.

Rarely, bed.

If so then usually on my belly with pillows under my chest and another pillow propping up the book.

An eink kindle might help. They are very light weight, small and more comfortable to read even than a paperback.

Unitaskers, you cannot browse the web or read email. Just read books and text you've saved from the web.

I'll see your shattered attention-span and add poor impulse control, impatience, and serious ADD.

So I gave up on sititting down and reading a book long ago. But I still get through at least a book a week (while getting crap done), with...

Audiobooks!

So I guess my favorite place is the kitchen or the workshop or the laundry room. Outside the house, add the gym, any local coffee joint, and crawling along in traffic.

In the right frame of mind I can read anywhere *(:>*

Naturally bathroom graffiti comes to mind first . . .
