[IMPRESSIONS] Micro Touch One “Classic” Safety Razor. Long Post
#11
similar to my experience - w/o using a super-sharp blade any DE shave is no closer than an electric on my heavy stubble.

of course, using an electric takes a fraction of the time vs. a DE shave.

and any multi-blade disposable is a far closer shave than any DE (at the price of more irritation to the skin vs. the single-blade DE).

Thank you all for the summary of the summary: A mild razor.

I suppose I have one of those, a '60s Gillette Super Speed? I can get pretty close using new Feather blades, but not even that gets as close as a Schick 4-blade whatever-they-are disposable. I do OK with BIC and Kai blades; they're a notch or so down in sharpness from Feather.

Whew Robert, what a review for a... razor. I ain't got the patience for it, so just skimmed ye article. Two bladed swivel Gillette disposable does the best job for me. I make one last about 7 shaves on me tough beard. Comfort on me old face is most important. I ain't going back to those old razors I started out on like this thingamajig. Cut ye face.

Article,

Nope. That summary is too condensed. You lose way too much of the content. Even the others skip out relevant details.

Deck and Guy,

DE safety razors aren't for everyone. It's very much a personal preference. For example, I've yet to find _any_ electric shaver that can hold a candle to a disposable, cartridge or DE razor. And, of the aforementioned types, DE razors are the best for me.

The Edwin Jagger and Derby Extra blades have nearly paid for themselves already. I still have nearly 1.5 years worth of blades from my original pack of 100 qty.

Decay,

I found the length of the razor to be a non-issue. I thought it'd be a problem but I hold it towards the end of the handle. So, it doesn't matter if it's longer or shorter. But, if you've got big hands, I can see how it can be a problem if you've got hands large enough to palm a basketball.

If you're looking for a DE razor, I'd check them out at a local shop rather than buy online. That way, you can get a feel for each one before making your decision. That's what I did when I bought the Barleycorn.

And, to everyone, if you want to buy the Micro Touch One, don't buy it online or over the phone. Buy it from a local shop. You'll save bucks. Smile
