Anyone watch last night? I was pretty darned excited about it. Still happy, but felt as follows:
-The monologue. It's basically Weekend Update without any visuals. There is nobody who could have possibly watched this who had ever seen Seth on SNL who wouldn't have had the feeling that "something's missing."
-The interactions with Fred A. I worship the guy, and I do appreciate the insight into the art of comedy, but the improv stuff between all of the SNL alum when they appear on Jimmy is way to self-referential (do most people recognize that they're displaying the art of improv with reasonable competence rather than just being kind of lame?) and I sure hope that's not going to be a nightly thing.
On the positive side-- didn't know how the band would be but I was positively impressed..... and even I have a hard time looking away from a female drummer.
