Amazon patents "Photography Against A White Background."
#1
"The US Patent and Trademark Office is frequently maligned for its baffling/terrible decisions... and rightfully so. Because this is exactly the sort of thing for which the USPTO should be maligned. Udi Tirosh at DIY Photography has uncovered a recently granted patent for the previously-unheard of process of photographing things/people against a white backdrop... to of all companies, Amazon."

Perhaps I should patent the breathing of air. I'd be rich I tells ya!

Belongs right next to their stupid One Click patent.

And the patent Smuckers bought years ago (and have since failed to protect) for the "sealed, crustless sandwich" (i.e. the Uncrustables product).

Actually, the PB&J patent makes more sense than either of Amazon's.

USA! USA! USA!

No, seriously, the modern day patent landscape is the pits and this is why I scoff at any company that sues over this specific type of "intellectual property". Yes, many people have filed legitimate patent applications, but business method and software aught to be banned outright.

I'm off to patent "Painting on black velvet." So long, suckers!

Would the logical conclusion of all this patent abuse become the nullification (or dismissal) of most all patent litigation? Not now, of course, but... eventually.

Ahhh, the blurred line between "photography against a white background" and Apple employees filmed in a white room.
