Is $30/month about the best I can hope for for a unlimited talk/text + little bit of data?
#1
I am considering a switch to a different phone/carrier, and am currently investigating options. It would seem as though $30/month is about the lowest price for service that includes unlimited talk/text and a little data.

I'm probably most interested in sticking with either an ATT or Verizon MVNO, as T-mobile doesn't have great coverage in my area.

What do you folks think?

Probably many / most peoples monthly bills are nearly 3x that

yup, I know that. And mine is currently less than 1/3 of that. Just considering moving to something that gives me a little more flexibility than what I currently have.

Have you looked into FreedomPop? If they serve your area and/or device, you could get unlimited voice/text service for less than $7 or limited minutes and texts for free.

That was the best kind of deal I could find for my sister, using an AT&T MVNO.

iPhone on Virgin Mobile (Sprint network) is $30 a month for unlimited text and data and 5 hours of talk a month. (Plan is $35 a month, but there is $5 discount for iPhones when you have automatic payment.)

StraightTalk has worked out well for my daughter, but it's a bit more expensive than what you have.

h20 wireless on AT&T is $30/month for unlimited talk/text + 500MB data.

but sign up for autopay and that drops to $27/month (10% discount).

there are 'pre-loaded' SIMs on ebay if you want to try out the service for a month.

Yes unless you can get a friends/family special discount from a carrier. My wifes bill went from $70 to $30 unlimited text/data. Talk minutes was the only compromise, but that is during the day before 7pm. Sprint. Her cousin works for sprint.

My bill is about three times that, on VZN. But I have solid bars no matter how far into the hinterland of MN or WI or Iowa I go ...
