Rachmaninoff - Vocalise
#1
Hi All, I played Rachmaninoff Vocalise in church this morning and thought I would share:

Hope you enjoy... it isn't perfect by any means, but honestly given that I got about 20 minutes of rehearsal time with the pianist (and this is the first time we've played together) I thing it is kinda amazing Smile

Most Excellent!

I took piano lessons as a young boy and Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 was one of the pieces I had to learn. The lessons never took, but that piece is one of my all time favorites.

When I hit the link, I saw that seven had hit it before me.
I was number Eight.

I am no Judge of Music; I'm pretty much Tone-Deaf. And I'm sure that I've heard this piece somewhere before. So while I was listening to it, I used The Web.

"The Rachmaninoff family was a part of an "old aristocracy", where all of the attitude but none of the money remained."
I had hit Paydirt at Wikipedia- a witty, urbane, extremely well written article; the sort of thing that Wikipedia is defiantly not known for. So I read it in its entirety, as Cello and Piano did their thing in the background.

I could easily have not clicked on the link; somebody else would be Number Eight. I actually rarely click on YouTube links posted here, but I already know that Cellocorman always offers something of Worth.

Thank You.

I think it's brilliant to have a backup pianist standing by in case the main piano has a breakdown :-)
