I don't get where you read that. I said at least two to three months. It could have gradually been building up as an issue.
*Could* have.
Thats kind of the issue Im having with the whole "its thermal paste" diagnosis. Or even trying to guess in this post.
There arent enough facts to go on and as far as I can tell from whats been said, the only thing you have tried is running iStat.
You ruled out dust, even though your dont really *know* if theres dust inside.
Software hanging was dismissed, even tho you havent tried anything to trouble shoot that.
The thermal paste article you posted to the guy bragged about his CPU not going over 80C. But earlier you siad yours was at 71 and 72? thats way cooler than his?
Again, I don't know where you read that it was a sudden issue. It could have and it could not have been a sudden issue.
Second, I have run iStat and Macs Fan Control. They both say the same thing but that's probably because they are taking the reading off the motherboard. What else do you want me to run?
Third, yes, I do rule out dust but that's because I have been in this machine quite a few times. Dust has never been an issue. I do spray the specks that I find. That bottle of canned air has been around for years! To make you happy, I will go into this machine later and spray like crazy.
Fourth, I have yet to create a new user as you suggested but I don't think that that will do much. Will try, though.
Fifth, the temperature is cooler on my MBP because I have placed it on top of a Cooler Master laptop stand equipped with two large fans. Without it, the internal fans will go to 6000 very quickly.
Why don't I do this...I will unplug the laptop cooler and come back to you on this. 11:30 at this moment and CPU temp at 66 Celsius.
