Anyone Else Have Problems with Netflix This Evening?
#1
I didn't get round to putting any DVDs in my Netflix queue, so we settled down by the fire to watch something streaming. But everything I tried gave "An error occurred. Please try again later."

We're using an AppleTV device, which generally works fine. It is of course Saturday evening, so I assume both Internet (RCN cable) and Netflix traffic are high. But still. . .

The AppleTV connects wirelessly to our old but reliable Linksys WRT-54G router. Should I consider running an Ethernet cable? Replacing the router? Or is RCN or Netflix likely the culprit?

Anyway, we saved the evening by replaying my copy of the 1954 Ealing Studios comedy, "The Titfield Thunderbolt," one of the best train movies ever and a favorite of mine forever:

Worked fine for me tonight, East coast.

Did you try power-cycling each of your network devices?

Only problem I had was trying to find something to watch on Netflix. Streaming has been fine so far. Michigan/Comcrap

No, because the Internet in general was working fine.

That's happened to me a couple times. Usually a restart of ATV fixes it. Probably something to do with logging out and back in to Netflix.

Tested this morning, figuring the traffic would be down, and streaming still didn't work. So followed Wags's suggestion and restarted the ATV. . .

It worked!

Thanks, Wags! I had forgotten there even was a Restart command in the Settings menu of the ATV. So now I just have to make sure my wife knows how to find it, if she's trying to stream something when the grandkids are here.

Don't know if it's a logging question, though; I was logged in to Netflix, and could search and select anything. It was only when I tried to Play a stream that it stalled and gave me the error.

Not being logged in specifically, but maybe getting a different route to their server. Glad it worked for you, anyhow.

I had some problems a few days ago, logging out and logging back in fixed them. I was having the same issue as the OP, everything seemed to be working but movie wouldn't play and I got the same error message.
