MacBook Pro lousy performance increase?

My company wants me to test some things, and I told them OK, but only on a new machine. It would be easier to justify if the new one was much better.

How does it seem that it's 15% faster? By eye? Did you do some tests? Which tests?

Yes, on the CPU side. However, the newer MBPr also has a faster GPU with twice the VRAM, 802.11ac, Thunderbolt 2, and a much faster SSD interface (5.0 GT/s PCIe x2).

It would be easier to justify if the new one was much better.

I think it's significantly better but I agree that Intel needs to get moving.

Wait for the next iteration. Apple will lessen processor overhead by removing all external ports and bringing back swappable batteries. Or get a Mac Pro.
