Rumor is this essentially would be the sensor in the Nikon D800/810 with in body stabilizer instead of optical stabilizer. I welcome Pentax into the mix as Sony has pretty much abandoned the Alpha mount platform to new lens development in favor of their E-mount line. Sony has also priced their lenses at higher prices than Canon and Nikon for essentially less tech/optical glass. Sony has also not update the A99 in quite a while.
The other exiting part of this sensor is the aps-c mode will likely be around 16mp. In some tests I saw, the D800/810 is actually a better performer in the aps-c mode than most of Nikon's DX cameras. This means anyone with a Pentax aps-c body can pick up this new camera and use their aps-c lenses without skipping a beat.
Looking forward to Pentax moving forward with this camera. The lenses available with manual focus Pentax full frame lenses in the K mount is vast.
