I bought one of these last year for a friend and he beats the hell out of his and just works (and sounds good). Best price I have seen for this speaker.

Anyone on the market for something like this should take a look at the Boombotix rex.

That's a pretty good speaker. It has good sound for something its size. Great portability.

I've always wanted to get a second one since you can pair them.

Do you have one? What's your opinion of it?

I'm always on the look for a great BT/Airplay speaker. The one with the bass dock looks interesting. I prefer a speaker with strong (but not overpowering) bass.

The UE Boom does not have a lot of low end, but it still sounds good and is very portable. So I call it a "really good" speaker, but not a "great" speaker.

You're right. But it's got a nice thump.

IMO, in the $100, portable, rechargeable, BT speaker category this is a "great" speaker.

If the UE Boom was $100 when I was shopping for a BT speaker, I would have instantly gotten it over the Bose Soundlink Color. No doubt about it.

I clip em to my shirt or jacket while doing yard work or riding to my weekend job. My opinion-- it's amazing that you can get something this good for $45. I have no idea how to compare to something I haven't heard/used, but I can't figure out how I would use the Boom. Do you wear it around your neck on a lanyard?
