FU: Toilet running when Sprinkler in backyard comes on
#1
FU: http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1...sg-2191321

So I bought a new fluid master toilet valve for $8 at Home Depot.

Flushed Toilet, turned off water to toilet. Took some rags to get remaining water out of toilet.

Without using any tools, unscrew the plastic end connecting water supply from the toilet.

Unscrew old Toilet vale with its raising device that shuts water off.

Compared old to new, and was going to make the new the same height as the old, but I noticed on the box, that I was suppose to have the mark on this new valve about 1" above the top of the FLAPPER tube top. So I adjusted it a lot taller than the one I removed. Tightened the thing up. Turned on the water, and all works fine.

When sprinklers comes on, it no longer runs.

Either bad worn out gasket in new Toilet valve. or...... Old one had the water right at the top f the flapper tube. New install has the water level 1" below the flapper tube.

Amazing what can happen when you read the directions.
