Poll: What news source do you read or listen to?
#1
I'm a bit of a news junkie, by news I mean those outlets that actually put an effort into delivering news, ahead of entertainment. That landscape is changing faster than I'm able to type this and is in such a state of flux it's unlikely anyone today can predict what it will look like as little as ten years from now.

Most of us get our news in ways that couldn't have been foreseen ten years ago and since my grounding in news predated that by decades, I'm curious about how you think we'll be getting our news ten or fifteen years from now.

I'm also wondering this: If you had to choose only 5 sources of current day news to depend on, which would you choose?

This a poll composed of different media, pick from one to five (remember this presupposes that you will have only these sources available so assume any opinions you arrive at will be informed by these 5 outlets only)

(ommissions are on me; if you want to write in The Iowa Statesman or KFI-Los Angeles - go for it)

Poll only allows one selection, not multiple.

What kind of news? For generic news and sports I'll go to CNN and MSNBC in addition to Google news.

Rgrf,

You need an "Other" or "None of the above". I read Newsday each morning and tend to listen to 1010WINS while on the road. 1010WINS would fall under "Other" or "None of the above". Smile

Wow - 'none' unless you count my daily headlines for NYT.

Google news, twitter, and specific podcasts for me.

Doesn't matter now. The gist was if you could only get info from 5 different sources and none other, what would they be. If I'd been aware of the forum limitations, I wouldn't have even started since no one would want to have only a single news source to rely on and it would appear that once you start one of these polls, you're stuck with what you posted.

I should either just end it or let it run as is as to what's most popular.

Yep. There's NO way to "pick" 5 (or 4, or 3, or 2).

BBC World Service
New York Times
NPR
PBS
Washington Post

Also The Atlantic, PRI, C-SPAN Radio, our local public news radio station -- and whatever interesting articles my friends link to on Facebook, regardless of what publication they originate from. Local news on the television most days unless we're watching a DVD.

OK, I'll do mine longhand.

The Guardian
NPR
BBC
Boston Globe
Reuters

I've been done with the NYT since the days of Judith and their refusal to correct themselves.

I knew someone would find a workaround to the poll limitations.
