House GOP lays out case for Clinton perjury over emails

She did lie about the email. Even the FBI clearing her claimed as much. Mishandled classified email. The whole thing is embarrassing, but it starts with Hillary Clinton's inability to get in front of the "controversy."

Making stuff up again? How do you know this? The only "lie" is you saying that she lied.

She said there were no classified emails. The FBI disagreed. Am I missing something.

Man, facts must suck when everything is red versus blue. Do people here really think Mrs Clinton didn't lie?

She said she never emailed any classified materials. That was false, but I tend to believe she didn't know it at the time, since none of the emails in question (but three) were marked classified. One can argue she _should_ have known, but it's hard to make that argument without knowing the type of material in question. For instance, I'm fairly certain that the US drone program is classified, although its existence is the worst kept secret ever. If there was a side reference to such in an email, did that email deal with classified topics? (which was something like the convoluted description the FBI used)

She later modified her statements saying she never emailed anything marked classified. This was also false, but only with an asterisk. Each of the three "marked" emails was "marked" with a © before something (perhaps a phone number) that was classified. This is by all accounts not a standard way of indicating classified material, and she may not have recognized it as such. Beyond this, the State Department says that two of the three emails so marked were marked in error.

Leaving exactly one email that was marked classified....with a ©.

Contrast that with the Bush White House conveniently "losing" something like 5 million emails when they were using RNC email to discuss government business out of standard channels.

It's incredible hypocrisy on the part of the GOP here. Fortunately for all involved, no one but Chaffetz and his ilk gives a rat's ass about this endless effort to make something out of nothing.

Thanks pdq. I am not a fan of the Bush White House and their lost emails. I actually watched the hearings on some of that. If I remember correctly, all the Republicans in Congress did was blame the complexity of Lotus Notes.

Again, it's pretty easy to see something as false and still think it's relatively minor. I guess I'm just being pedantic.

"I never inhaled…"

"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the--if he--if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not--that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement....Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true."

Except that Bill Clinton isn't the Democratic candidate.
