Not counting the button fly. Wranglers are about half the price and since I'm old and not a jeans snob anymore, that's what I have in mind. However, I'm picky about how they feel and look. I want them to have the basic look and fit of 501's. There are so many models to choose from, I get tired and confused.

I'm also out of my jeans-snob phase. Recently bought some Wrangler straight leg at Target for about $20. They are good jeans for the price. I'd buy them again. They're not button fly, though, sounds like that's what you want. I'd just google button-fly jeans and see what you find.

No, I don't care if they have the button fly or not. I just want the general color, shape, and fit. No stretch material, no color that's real light or dark. No boot fit or relaxed fit. No cowboy look. No slim tapered legs and of course, no bell bottoms.

"So what you are saying is that you have that rare, normal shaped body."
Of course. Up to my gut. All southern men let their gut hang over. No one would dare be called "high pockets."
"I've bought 501's at Kohls for roughly $35 on sale."
That's double the Wrangler price. I don't have to have 501's - just a reasonable facsimile. And a zipper is fine.

Dennis,
I stopped buying cheap jeans because they just don't hold up that well. Now, I buy Duluth Trading Ballroom jeans when they are on sale. The difference in quality and fit is tangible and the design and features make them worth the extra bucks over jeans from Wrangler. I was never jeans snob. I just want quality jeans that fit well and don't mind at all paying a bit more bucks to get them. Duluth nailed it with their jeans. I'll take them over just about any other brand now.

I've never had Duluths, maybe I should try them sometime soon.
For the last couple of years I have become a jean's snob... I have went back to the basics: 501s shrink to fit.
They fit well, great... and I end up wearing them for longer periods, thus saving on washing cycles

I'm pretty sure no one sells the Duluths down here.
