To encourage fitness goals, share experiences, educate and uplift each other.

If you haven't started yet, you are welcome at anytime.

Share as much or as little as you want with the group.

Starting out doesn't need to be a big step, just take that step.

Remember, don't be too footloose and fancy free around exercise equipment.

Posting this early, I am going to be off the net all day Monday and Tuesday.

The week was a combination of one workout, helping someone move, and free doughnuts. I don't think I came out ahead on the caloric intake battle. WIll try again this week.

Last week: 1 upper body workout, moving boxes.
Goal this week: 2 upper body workouts, elliptical.

Completed a 5 mile race Saturday morning. Very slow pace, but no pain. I think I've finally gotten over this $^%#&# injury.

It's been a fairly regular week for me. I got in three bike rides and a couple days of yard work. I've been slacking off with the dumbbells but this thread prompted me to do my routine today. My diet has been OK but I was diverted into a holiday weekend celebration mode yesterday - I think I'm over it now.

Lost enough weight that I've started intervals -- jogging part of my route -- without knee or arch pain.

...Now I have to figure out what to do about the shin-pain. New running shoes with high-rated cushion-soles actually have less cushioning than my everyday sneakers and are making it worse.

Pineapple juice for those sore shins.

Several decades ago, I was with a team that did a dance for the opera Lucia diLammermoor, an Italian opera set in Scotland. There is a wedding scene and we had a 90 second dance before the bride comes out and in a LONG aria tells the guests that she just killed the groom.

We worked REALLY hard on that 90 second dance which had the four men dancing some Highland steps followed by a reel with four ladies. We practiced so hard leading up to the first performance that I got nasty shin splints. Buddy told me to drink pineapple juice, so I did. A little would have been good, but of course in the course of an evening I drank the whole quart. Shin splints were gone the next morning! Not a sign of them.

Of course all that acid did a job on my tongue so standing back during the aria I had to be sure I was not slobbering from my damaged tongue.

Never heard of the pineapple cure!

Lots of tourist type walking: slow and not too far. Belt seems to be getting tighter.
