They're frustrated that our society isn't taking the disastrous and ongoing killing of unarmed Black people seriously enough. I get their concerns and I feel their passion for justice. We want the same things. We just have different ideas about how to get there. Since they're kids, they're infuriating. Since I'm older, I'm annoying.
It is frustrating. It's ill-informed actions like this that have really undercut the message of BLM, and pretty much destroyed its effectiveness and credibility. Instead, BLM is not taken seriously by the very people who don't understand why killing unarmed black people is a problem or even accept that it is a problem.
College students must learn that you don’t win an argument by being the loudest. You win an argument by having a better argument.

fragile white person much?
I'm wondering which people who support the BLM movement are worried what you think. I'm thinking none.

Some of the slogans included "No justice, no peace, "We shall not be moved" and "white supremacy is not a debate."
Standing before a packed auditorium, Comey stood silently for over 15 minutes as the students yelled, "I love being black" and "Get out James Comey -- you're not our homey."
You know how you get your message out? You disrupt a high profile speaker. It works. I support the action and the message 100%.
How much does a 15 minute delay cost James Comey?

Comey seemed to be unperturbed. He's got more depth than the children realize. What they should have been hollering about was that damned memo.
I disagree. He did a lot to ruin the lives of a lot of innocent people.
But he did handle that well.
In his place, I would have thanked them and praised the institution for encouraging political participation, but standing there quietly and taking it was a respectable response.

What did it accomplish exactly, aside from a brief blip on the news cycle. Are you saying that faculty and students at Howard University didn't know about racism until these brave souls came along?

It reminds him that he may just be accountable for his actions some day.

It accomplished the further erosion and dilution of the BLM message. What's being paid attention to is the childish behavior of those students.

Thank you!'
Nobody owes anyone a gentle or polite response to racism or to the people who represent and further the deep and abiding structural racism of our society.
