I'd upgrade to 9.2.2 and install a USB/FW card.

...But they're surprisingly expensive.

It does. You had to add an ATA card to use ATA drives. I have one of those in my 9600.

When I needed to move files off a PB520 (OS 7.5) and its associated floppies, I used Netpresenz (http://www.stairways.com/main/netpresenz) on the PB to create a simple server, then connected the PB via Ethernet (AAUI adapter) to a router, and FTP'ed to it from a modern Mac. The router wasn't connected to the internet, since the server had little/ancient security, so I just used it as a switch. There were probably some speedbumps I had to solve as far as a floppy transfer *of* Netpresenz to the PB, but I don't recall them.
