Just another drug of abuse.

Against.

It's smoking by any other name.

Part of its attraction may be the apparatus most often resembles drug paraphernalia.

And I see it very much as a gateway product, not too much different than 'candy cigarettes' for kids.

"I don't like it; therefore, it must be stupid & a waste of time."

I like plenty of things that others would consider a waste of time.

Those kind of people are a waste of my time.

Another disadvantage to mention;
Anyone who thinks the various "flavoring agents" used in vape-juice have been tested for safety vaporizating and inhaling into the lungs is fooling themselves. Sure, they're "food safe" additives - NONE of which has ever been tested for the effects on the lining of the lungs when applied directly rather than being ingested.

We'll know THOSE effect in 10-20 years.

Better than smoking? Sure.... for the bystanders. Better for the person vaping? Well, probably.... but that remains to be seen.

Um... there are arguments that the 'gateway drug' theory is not particularly accurate. And appears to be less accurate as it's becoming more legal.

(Think of it this way.. people drinking beer don't eventually shift to drinking pure grain alcohol..)

From the first paragraph in the article: Well let me tell you that the experts are divided as well.

Again Im oversimplifying -- but also going on the expereince of my wife who works in public health. Shes worked with a whole swatch of drugs/diseases/adccicts/testing/prisoners/homeless/low SES -- you name it -- and shes seen the effects first hand.

Perhaps its changing with pot legalization.

Steve,

In favor:

Possibly less expensive than plain ol' cigarettes.
The vaping device is reusable.

Against:

More expensive than foregoing vaping/smoking entirely.
Maintenance of the vaping device, assuming it needs regular cleaning/sanitizing.
Not all of the components are recyclable? Maybe?

I neither smoke nor vape so I'm kinda sorta am guessing.

Robert

Is there an opinion stated somewhere in there?

Still nicotine, Still addictive. Not regulated by FDA and anyone can put anything into Vapes. Could potentially be more harmful than cigarettes.

I'm seeing way too many kids vaping because they think it is harmless. These are kids who weren't smoking cigarettes, and think those are disgusting and dangerous. When you candy out, kids are going to eat it.

It's the new addiction.
