I think Joe is handling it the best way he can. If he threw his son under the bus in order to gain favor with voters, it would backfire big time. Most people would view him as an opportunistic jerk who is disloyal to his own son.

The rush to sacrifice Hunter is more indicative of the liberal tendency to purge the impure than it is prudent politicking.

If by liberal you mean progressive, I don't see Uncle Joe drawing a lot of liberal support.

RJ is referring to liberal/progressive voters, who want every candidate to be as pure as the driven snow regardless of who they may actually prefer.

Those folks will always be around, remember Ralph and John Anderson? Without Ross there's no Bill. You plan around these people or you spend the after election blaming them for your loss.

538 and others have done a series on Ross Perot. His impact turned out to be surprisingly equal to both Dems and Reps, meaning in the end Clinton would have likely won anyway.
