Following up on my previous post.
So I charged this overnight, and it went to 100%, and I've had it plugged in all day. It stopped charging this morning, and have been using it on battery power. Now down to 20%. I've shut it down. Unplugged it, replugged it, restarted it. It s not charging at all. I will shut down again see if it charges as I run a few errands.
Does this sound like a battery issue or the resistor. I am able to charge my wife's older MacBook, so that rules out the charger as an issue, correct?

my bet is bad battery, with a small chance of bad resistor. Especially if your OS X says battery needs service.

If all else fails, try taking off the bottom cover, and unplugging the battery connector to the mother board, and then plug it in again. Be prepared to have an incorrect date/time on the first boot.

A battery from OWC is going to be about $100 shipped. If you don't want to gamble that amount, you could get a cheap aftermarket from Amazon or eBay for $30. It won't last as long either on a charge or lifetime, but when it starts to go then you could get the OWC.
It really does sound like the battery is terminal and a replacement will get you back to normal though.

And I agree with others that the battery needs to be replaced (any signs of swelling, or trackpad issues?). Just offering possible ways to get the bad one to charge again until it's replaced or it doesn't charge again (then rinse and repeat). Not as something that I would expect to be a permanent fix.

Also I assume you did reset PRAM and SMC.
But as other have already said, battery first, then hardware issues next.

Thank you everyone! Completely forgot about SMC Reset and haven’t reset PRAM in a decade! No go however! My MacBook died at 11%! Gonna order that battery and hope that’s it!
