To me, the point is: What is wrong with people that they decide to murder others to solve a problem, regardless of how they commit the murder?
And as a side note, I'm sure we'll be hearing from the people who will say that, yeah, this guy was a walking time bomb and we knew he would go over the edge one day...

How does that possibly compare to how the media might be portraying a pieced of hardware accurately, and whether or not they have an agenda.
It's only people and there's more where that came from, right.
Apologies, DP.
I feel ya.

I know, I know... I didn't post that particular source because they mentioned a silencer. But, now that you do mention it, why would the shooter use one anyway? In an office or a factory-what? did he think no one would know what he was doing if he was "silenced"? Maybe to try to take out as many as possible before his actions were detected?
I would like to know, too, if his weapon(s) and silencer were illegally obtained.
The bottom line is, however, that murder is still the worst crime committed. How do people get to a point were it becomes the only option?

That would be my guess.
People have become more aware of mass workplace violence, though it's been going on for years, maybe decades or more.
The sound of gunshots would almost certainly alert people not in the immediate area, allowing some to escape and call for help.
I haven't seen anything about what weapon or weapons he had, or if he carried a cache of ammo with him. If either or both, that would be fairly indicative that he intended there be more victims than the six. A suppressed weapon could go far to that end.
If he was moving through a machinery space, ambient noise could easily cover up or at least mask such a weapon's report.
It's possible we may never know, but to me with what I've read so far, that's why I think he used a silencer equipped firearm.

Indeed, to the first, and who knows, to the second.
There are many possibilities, and I choose to avoid rank, knee-jerk speculation.

I"m bummed that unlike most places in the developed world, my country's firearms policies had made it reasonable to wonder whether my workplace might be subjected to massive deadly violence just because an employee got fired that day.
This just isn't a reality for Canadians. Or Mexicans. Or Europeans. It's a bummer.

Mexico's murder rate was roughly six times the United States' per capita last year, and firearms were used in 72% of the murders.

Did you read my whole post? I can edit your post down to a couple words and cherry pick a critique, too.
Try again.

Actually it is rjmacs. If you look at fatalities vs population, we aren't near the end of the bell curve. Granted, the weapon of choice is different in many cases, but the behavior is definitely there in other countries and cultures. Look at Asian mass stabbings for example.
I am IN NO WAY EXCUSING THE BEHAVIOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whatever was going on inside the person's head that caused them to pick up something and take their anger, sadness, depression, loneliness, jealousy, whatever, out on others is what everyone needs to think about and focus on.
People tend to want an easy fix to a complex problem, especially if that "easy fix" doesn't personally negatively impact them.
