Help Video Peeps - Canon XA10 and iMovie
#1
I know there are members here with solid video foundations. I have to record with an XA 10 tomorrow and have a breakdown/transcript shortly thereafter.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of caveats with getting the recorded video into iMovie. I'm got a 2018 mac mini with Mojave and SD card adapters.

Anyone have experience with this and can suggest a recommended workflow/best practice. Trans-coding, Frame rates, Formats, etc.

Thanks in Advance!

This web site says it's compatible, so I guess you can just plug in the card and import: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204202

Also, assuming you have adequate space on the SD cards, I would be sure to select (on the XA10) the highest bit-rate offered to record at. This will give you the best possible quality from that camera. 30fps it likely the frame rate you want. Some cameras offer 60fps, but that's really not helpful unless shooting sports or other fast action, and will only eat up your bitrate with extra frames for all other applications. Think bits per second / frames per second = quality per frame.
