wrong turn?!.....the Joss Whedon 'toxic' work environment reveal, just took a dark turn.....

......Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Dawn, and was a minor at the time.......

.....Trachtenberg, who damningly alleged Wednesday of “not appropriate behavior” by the Buffy creator towards her when she was a “teenager” on the 1998 – 2003 running series.

In a later re-editing of her initial post, Trachtenberg added: “The last. Comment I will make on this. Was. There was a rule. Saying. He’s not allowed in a room alone with Michelle again.” The remark of “a rule” by the actress implies that others knew of Whedon’s allegedly inappropriate interaction with the then minor and had set up a safeguard to prevent a repetition of the occurrence......

This statement could be bad for Josh and others depending on when it happened. Many states enacted laws requiring people in certain positions to notify authorities of any signs or knowledge of child abuse.

He's a dick. Just because he's had creative ideas doesn't mean he can't have been an abusive person, and the evidence is just piling up that he should retire to his writer's room and stop interacting with women in professional settings.

One interesting thing about him is the contradiction between Joss Whedon's public and (alleged) private personas.

His wife suggested during their divorce that he used empowered women in his stories as a way of assuaging guilt for his many infidelities, a number of which were supposedly with subordinates who may have felt coerced.

Also interesting: He has remained quiet through this whole thing. Hasn't offered anything in the way of a rebuttal or defense. His reps and lawyers have made some weak gestures when asked for a comment, but he's been conspicuously absent.

I’ve heard enough to strike Whedon off my list (Yes, I’m one of those who have a low bar for not separating a creative from his work).

But I will continue to weigh this particular rather oddly rendered allegation; neither side having a decisive edge. Language is important to me, and with allegations this serious, ‘quirky’ or eccentric language from a 35 year old adult, not damning in itself, does garner a further look.

Damn!

I was wondering why Marti Noxon never spoke up either for or against him. It always seemed that she was his close partner. She must have seen something. Her perception of the thing must be particularly poignant. And she's spoken out very publicly against abusive showrunners in the past.

“I would like to validate what the women of Buffy are saying and support them in telling their story. They deserve to be heard,” Noxon wrote on Twitter. I understand where Charisma, Amber, Michelle and all the women who have spoken out are coming from.”

...I have the feeling he's going back to quiet anonymous script-fixing for awhile.
