I just went to YouTube and about a second after I got there something started playing and frankly scared the crap out of me. I didn't click a video or hover over one or anything like that. It just started playing an ad (an anti-Biden ad). There was no pause button, no video that I could see was playing; just audio. I haven't changed any settings. The only way to make it stop was to close the YouTube tab. When i went there again, the same thing happened. What's weird is it ddn't even play the whole ad. It stopped after maye 20 seconds without me doing a thing. If I hit Refresh, another one starts playing and again stops after about 2o0 seconds before it's over.
What the f*** is happening? And how do I get it back to some semblance of normal?

The Trump campaign has bought up all the top-line banner ad space on YouTube for the rest of the Democratic Convention period.

Well, I know many of them will play a few seconds when you hover over them, which is annoying enough. But I think what Speedy is describing is what's actually happening. I've never seen "top line banner ad space" and still don't see it now, but I'm getting those damn ads. As if I wasn't annoyed by the guy enough already! I feel like Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange. Then again, I guess at least I can close the tab to make it stop.

I see no issues, but I am not logged in. I am using an adblocker and javascript blocker.

That is what I am using. It does occasionally break websites so you can't load pull-down menus or click buttons.

Just came off watching Craig Fergusson/Eddie Izzard compilation and thanks to AdBlock saw nothing unusual.

I have uBlock, but I still get the first few seconds of ads before it gives me the option to skip. Interestingly, the one I saw today was actually a Biden ad, not Trump.
