In 5 minutes get in my under pants and sting me on my bum. Plus my thumb trying to get to it.
How did the wasp do it?

Worst was when I pushed a running lawnmower over a bare patch of earth that contained a yellow jacket nest.
Took awhile for my brain to register the consequences, i.e. "why all of a sudden are hot needles being driven into my thighs?" Once I got back into the car I pulled up my shorts and watched one sting, then walk a little bit on my skin, then sting again...took lots of Benadryl that day...

I ended up rolling around on the lawn trying to "put the fire out". Neighbors must have thought I'd finally lost all my few remaining marbles.

Once while working on a survey crew up in the mountains, I walked over a wasp nest and got stung on my hand which swelled up like a mickey mouse cartoon hand.
A coworker went into a kind of shock and had to lie down for several minutes. I didn't know wasps could do so much damage. ![]() northern california coast
Many wasps are natural burrowers. Some 1400 different species know how to get into your pants.
Yikes ! Glad you are okay !
I had an allergic reaction to a Yellowjacket sting at work some years ago. One nice ambulance ride and a shot of epi and I was fine. I used to keep an injection kit (pre $$ epipen thing). I ignored it, let it expire. Then was nailed by a bunch of yellowjackets when I ran over their nest with the mower. I was fine. I guess the allergy was a temporary thing. That night I went back with a propane torch and burned those little bastiches out. The next night a skunk dug up the whole nest and had a snack of roasted wasp.
