As an owner of the M1 Mini, I can confidently say this is the best computer for the cheapest price in Apple history. It's so stunningly fast.

I also think it really hurt the giant Mac Pro tower sales.

I was just thinking that we'll never see any deals on minis with the upgraded ram, but there are one or two.. Cool

16MB is OK for OS7 on an SE/30, but not for Big Sur on any Mac.

Before the M1 chip, that was true.

My Mac sent me a message last night. A hint, if you will.

While using Photos to work on some RAW files, after about 30 minutes a box came up and said I'm out of RAM, and would I like to shut down some apps? I shut down everything but Photos and didn't have any issues.

I've never seen such a message before, but with Big Sur I think Apple finally realized that thrashing a swap file if low on memory isn't a great idea, even with an SSD present.

That makes no sense at all, ESPECIALLY when the storage drive is an SSD.

Yeah, my youngest kid (still in undergrad) wants to get rid of all their current Macs (MBP, iMac) in favor of hooking up a base M1 Mini to their 29" external display.
