NC State baseball kicked out of college world series after 8, yes 8, unvaccinated players test positive for delta
#1
Public colleges in NC cannot mandate vaccines even for athletes. Vanderbilt wins by forfeit and advances.

Wolfpack goes home after a strong season ends early. And it was avoidable. Players are saying they didn't want side effects from vaccines while the season was underway. Somebody should have pointed out that a COVID infection is gonna be worse...

Full FDA approval of the vaccines is coming soon, and mandates need to follow. Otherwise this mess continues.

The NCAA covid rules have been in place all season. Only two players tested positive, the remainder were required to quarantine due to contact tracing. Those two players knew the rules and the results of a positive test. It sounds as if the coach was in favor of vaccinations either. Regardless, the rules were in place for all teams and had to be followed. I just feel sorry for the players who did the right thing.

You can choose to not be vaccinated, but that does not exempt you from the consequences - just ask some hospital employees in Houston.

News reports say 8 players tested positive.

https://abc11.com/nc-state-baseball-ncsu...48/RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Eight NC State baseball players tested positive prior to the team being removed from the College World Series, the university's chancellor said.

Chancellor Randy Woodson confirmed that the eight players tested positive for the highly-contagious Delta variant of COVID-19."

A state school can't override state laws in favor of NCAA rules. I'm sure the coaches would have preferred a 100% vaccinated team but they can't force it.

At NC State vaccinated students are exempt from surveillance testing and quarantine.

Not quite sure what you meant to say about the coach. He pretty much talked around the whole vaccination issue as if he didn't want to be on the record as being for or against. Much the same from the AD.

Yep, a failure of leadership all the way around. Ignorance of science wins again!

Listening to interviews with the coach, he sounds like a waffling goofball. Says he didn't want to " indoctrinate players with his values." So did not tell them to get a vaccine. But he probably tells them what to eat, how to exercise, not to drink alcohol, how to behave, etc.

Making COVID political is the worst thing ever.

Thanks, Pres. Trump. And as far as this unvaccinated team getting the boot - good.
