Interesting - first time for me when ordering Apple product. No delivery option!

Paid my latest Apple Tax installment, purchased a new Apple Watch Series 7. Looking forward to the always-on screen.

When I ordered, I had the oddest scenario - the only option was for me to drive 80 miles to pick up at the closest Apple Store. No option to have it shipped.

I did not sort this out too much (I hated the default band so swapped out as it allowed me to for one of the non-olive green bands) to get the order placed.

I'll pay my homage, get my tech, and likely visit IKEA while I'm there...

Weird: I wonder if they have had theft issues with smaller items.

I wasn't given the option of in-store pickup the last time I bought something, which was maybe 6 weeks ago. I would have preferred it, after what happened 3 years ago with the MBP that was never delivered. I had the replacement sent to the nearest Apple store, which is not far from me, crosstown near the western end of my street.

I ordered an Apple Watch for my sister a couple months ago with a custom band. Had it shipped directly to her house. It came directly from China via UPS international. One delivery attempt was made but as per usual the driver did not wait long enough for her to get to the door. Left a note that it would be dropped off at a local UPS access point not far from her home for pick up. Kept checking the place and they did not receive the package. Finally called UPS. Turns out as I was told by the UPS international agent that with Apple products, UPS requires a signature even if Apple doesn't and it can only be picked up at the UPS site and not dropped off at an access point. Picked it up just before it would have been sent back to Apple. At no point was I told a signature would be required.

That would piss me off, since my nearest Apple Store is more than 250 miles away...

Huh. Wonder why? I just contributed to the Apple Tax as well. I got an option to have it shipped. It will be there October 26th, or so, give or take. Several days.

My luck is generally shipping only, with no local pickup for a few months.

So it looks like this will be an early Christmas present.



So mid-November, but my experience when ordering directly from Apple is under promise and over deliver, so it could be earlier, but I'm ok with the estimated date.

There's also some nice bands on my list, but that'll wait.

Ti is tough, but not that tough.
