A couple of useful products for my wife with memory issues

It is a phone only. Makes and receives phone calls. Not even voice mail.

This caught my eye as my 95 yo Aunt needs a new phone. But, while she isn't in memory care (she still is sharp-just physically weak) she just wants a simple phone like this one. But why is it $339? Yes, I know why, but all it does is make calls! Something like this could benefit a lot of people but just because it's aimed at a certain medical demographic they have to charge that price? Highway robbery...

I too think that the price is too high. It is a Motorola phone that is seriously disabled.

I had to have something though that she would use. We stopped our ATT landline (served by two rotary phones) because it was costing $50 a month and the only calls we received were solicitations. What I later realized is that by removing those, she had no way to call for help were I not there. I called ATT to reinstate service and the price was now up around $80 for basic landline. They certainly don't want those accounts anymore! I think that she will be able to use the RAZ phone, though.

We are having dehydration issues here. On two occasions this summer she felt dizzy both of which harkened back to dehydration. The first time she was with her daughter who is a nurse who sent her to the hospital for analysis. The second time we were with a retired doctor and his nurse wife so she chose her episodes well!

She had to stay overnight at the hospital. The next morning her daughter brought in her gear and while awaiting final tests and discharge, daughter lowered the lighting in the room, gave her mother a pedicure, and then they watched a movie on her iPad. Made a SPA day out of it.

Though we haven't needed a hospital stay, this is how I spend quiet time with my Mom at home too. Except it's manicures, she won't let me touch her feet. We see a podiatrist every few months.

She recently had a dizzy spell, I checked her bp and it was 100/60 so called her doc and went in. They did labs and ekg, all was normal. Backed off the blood pressure meds and she's been fine since. Most of the meds she takes have dizziness as a side effect.

The hydration requires constant attention, breakfast through bedtime. In the summer I use a water bottle with measurements so we can monitor intake more closely. I have her start and end each day with a glass of water, then sip throughout the day. Seems to work. She still enjoys coffee and a little wine too but I keep that very moderate.

I just try to enjoy every day, she is still very much her sweet self. Having fun prepping for Christmas now.
