Good free PC malware/antivirus app?
#1
Bought my friends gaming laptop and I haven’t used a PC in 20 years. Is there a good free anti-malware/antivirus app? It’s running Windows 10 home.

Just use the windows built-in antivirus if you are going to use it normally.

I use free Superantispyware and the free version of Malwarebytes to supplement Windows Defender. They pick up adware trackers and the like, not just traditional viruses. Those two seem to overlap in what they detect, so one is probably sufficient. Neither is resource intensive.

The free version of BitDefender has good ratings. I used it for a while (until upgrading to the full version).

Malwarebytes free is what I thought of first but others had slightly higher ratings the last time I did an exhaustive search. From a post three months ago.
