Messages colors

I know about Blue and Green in messages, but recently some of the messages I send show on my screen as clear with just a blue outline. When I click on it, it turns blue and the rest of the conversation blurs out except for the one answer to that message.

Never saw that before, any idea what it means?

is it a repeat of an earlier message? when you right-click (computer) or hold (on iphone) a message you are able to reply directly to that content. when sent the message replied to is clear with a blue line around it and a line connecting to the reply in a blue bubble.

one of my favorite features in Messages.

Yea, it's basically a quote of an earlier message. I.e. if you're texting away furiously with someone, they can reply to a specific (earlier) message. Otherwise, their reply might be interpreted as being the response to a later message.

I learn something new everyday, sometimes two things although I usually forget one of those things by the next day, actually likely both things.
