Huh. The only thing that stopped this shooter at a kid's summer camp...
#1
...were policemen with guns.

A man armed with a handgun was killed by police Monday morning after he fired shots inside the Duncanville Fieldhouse, where about 150 children were attending a summer camp, according to Duncanville police. Police said no children, staff or officers were harmed.

...police said the man entered the building through the main lobby doors and that he first fired a shot after exchanging words with a staff member.

...The suspect fired one shot from outside a locked classroom into the room, where children were present but not injured, police said. The suspect then went to the gymnasium...

...Officers arrived at the fieldhouse about two minutes after they were called, entered the building, found the armed suspect and confronted him, police said at a morning news conference. The gunman was shot by officers during an exchange of gunfire...

Imagine! It was almost as if these "police officers" (and camp teachers) were trained for this situation.

Naaaaah. Better to arm every Dick and Jane.

I guess they didn't go to the Uvalde Police Academy.

I would like to think that their response is much closer to the norm.

In two minutes he could have killed a dozen kids or more. Just too many guns in this country.

I doubt this guy was trying to kill anyone. He had opportunity and means.

He might’ve wanted too, but was scared to follow through. They’re not really thinking with their brains at the moment.

I read the full article, which is horrifying. Seems he was after someone in particular at the location.

Unless there’s been an update, reports are the motive remains unclear.

Fort Worth Star Telegram
” Police earlier said it was unclear whether the man was targeting anyone at the fieldhouse, or what led up to the incident, Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV reported.

WFAA-TV
”It is still unclear whether the man was targeting anyone at the fieldhouse, police said. A motive remains to be seen.”

Frankly, even though I view America’s gun culture as a cancer plaguing our society, I couldn’t care less if Wayne LaPierre Jr. himself showed up waving an NRA banner and stopped this guy with his personal gold engraved concealed carry handgun and prevented any more blood and carnage.

Quite true.

"According to public records, Ned had a criminal history that included convictions for intoxication manslaughter, drug possession and unlawfully carrying a gun."

And yet, there he is with a gun. It's almost as though easy access to guns is a problem.

Hmm...let's see (paging through stock NRA retorts). Ah! Here it is. If we make guns criminal, only criminals will have guns.

If he had a clean record, it would have been "There was no way that this could have been prevented, but (ridiculously easy) access to guns had nothing to do with it."
