SD Card for M1 MBP
#1
I finally bit at bought a 14" M1 Pro MBP. I got a 1TB drive in it, which is probably fine. But my current 15" MBP has a 2 TB drive in it, and I've got about 800 GB used. I was thinking it might make sense to offload my iTunes and Photos, since I almost never use iTunes (but I can't delete all of those albums I have) and I just use Photos casually.

I was thinking that a 512 GB low profile SD card might work for this. Something like... https://www.amazon.com/Transcend-JetDriv...RRVNCMZS9V&keywords=JetDrive%2B330%2Blite&qid=1650557524&sprefix=jetdrive%2B330%2Blit%2Caps%2C109&sr=8-1-spons&smid=AEDYXTHYD8DT7&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFIWUdJUEZSNlRPQ0gmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTAzMjU3MjdHSjExOFc0RlQxUzgmZW5jcnlwdGVkQWRJZD1BMDc3OTkwMDJURDFZTVhQU1IyVzkmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl&th=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=tucktuck0e-20&linkId=9c67acffc7332dde4f345b401b4baa74&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl

Are there other low profile SD cards that are better?

Any flaws in this plan?

I'd buy a flush adapter and use a regular mini SD card (or micro or whatever they are...)

Done that for about 7 years and no problems:

I do not know if the Current MacOS Music App can support multiple libraries like iTunes did (up to v12.x).

If it can, move the current library to an external drive.

You did not mention if you have AppleMusic, but if you do, you library should be in the cloud.

If you have iCloud, you can keep your photo libary in the cloud as well.

If no to both or either of these, then definitely get the the adapter anonymous mentioned, with a 1TB microSD card.

I have the MBP 14" and tried 5 different sizes. The last one I ordered fits perfectly. You have to use your fingernail to get it started when removing.
It is completely flush. You simply load it with whatever MicroSD card you want.
