Let's revisit what Phil Mickelson said candidly about being in business with the LIV Golf Tour.

Golfer Phil Mickelson has apologized for controversial comments he made about Saudi Arabia and a Saudi-backed upstart golf league that had hoped to lure star players away from the longtime golf establishment.

In a statement posted to social media Tuesday, Mickelson wrote that he "used words I sincerely regret" in a recently published interview in which the six-time major winner described the Saudi regime as "scary motherf******"

“Awesome day today.” — Phil Mickelson, who left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf.

“Nothing like finding out through Twitter that we’re merging with a tour that we said we’d never do that with.” — Mackenzie Hughes, PGA Tour player.

“Very curious how many people knew this deal was happening. About 5-7 people? Player run organization right?” — Michael Kim, PGA Tour player.

“Welfare check on Chamblee.” — LIV golfer Brooks Koepka, referring to Brandel Chamblee, a Golf Channel analyst who has been sharply critical of the LIV Tour. Last week, Chamblee had declared that “any yielding to or agreement with them is a deal with a murderous dictator.”

“Now that we’re all friends, is it too late for us to workshop some of these team names?” — Max Homa, PGA Tour player, referring to LIV teams like Crushers, Iron Heads and Majesticks.

Does anybody else expect this to blow up in their face (PGA) in 5-8 years?

when the Saudis own every golfer and eject the PGA, coz "who needs 'em."

my fellow TV types in sports were trying to step away from LIV.
But I'd guess someone(s) at PGA has a new Ferrari or two.

I wonder if MLB will be next, or NFL or MLS (football across the pond).

I don't follow golf very closely, but based on previous commentary from friends who do I was VERY surprised (and somewhat disgusted) to hear this news.

So glad I don't watch golf.

So disappointed that Soccer World Cup was in Qatar this year. At least it wasn't in Saudi Arabia which would have been even worse.

Yes, I’m very disappointed by this as well. Is it fair for me to remind everyone that we support the Saudis heinous ways with our gas powered cars? All evening I’ve been fuming about this news, and in the last five minutes I found myself, wondering if I was a hypocrite?
