Cybertrucks, in Fremont?
#1
A very quick glimpse of a Cybertruck in the wild in Fremont CA.

Wholly unattractive.

I suspect most of us are too old and conservative in our tastes. Even my first reaction upon seeing the Cybertruck during its unveiling was shock and disappointment, but over the course of a week it warmed on me. Now I think it’s cool and I’m stoked to get one! I put my order in the first hour it became available.

The Cybertruck is not a pickup, it isn't even a truck - it is simply a showoff vehicle. It will last two years, maybe three, and then the appeal will be gone. I'll be surprised if there is a 2026 model.

Looks like a kit car, or a movie prop.

Yes, but that can be said of most pickup trucks in use today. I’m buying the Cybertruck almost solely because it looks cool to me (same reason most people buy pickups and suvs).

It will be interesting to see how its sales history ultimately plays out. There are a lot of people saying it’ll be a long term hit and a lot saying it’ll be a dud. Part of me says it’ll be trendsetting like the ‘94 Dodge Ram. I’m honestly not sure which way it’ll play out though.

I love it. Want a 3/4 scale version!
That thing is the size of a Chevy HD/Ford F250!
Give me a Ranger/Taco size!

Nah, too much (dubious) style, not enough real-world function.

A show truck that incorporated several highly useful ideas that never made it into production was the Nissan Gobi concept truck-

No, it's not exactly a "looker" either, but I'll take a blue jellybean over a stainless steel brick, and the external storage drawers plus fold-down upper bed sides increase it's usefulness as a truck.
