A very cool and impressionable time to be a kid learning to play. Pagey was the height of cool when he joined the Yardbirds. I got to stand 3-4 ft in front of him for their whole set when the Yardbirds played my HS in Middle Village Queens NYC. Me and my buddy got his and the rest of the bands autographs after the show.

Yeah, I think that was in 67. No one knew who he was at that time. I thought I was going to see Jeff Beck but he had left. He sat right in front of me and played White Summer. I was really blown away with that one.

It really was a cool time. Things were much simpler in the music business. A lot of these musicians were really accessible back then. I ran into and met so many of them walking the NYC streets and working in instrument retail on 48th St and then in rehearsal and recording studios.

If I had traveled back in time and told him that night that in just 10 years, he'd be playing for me in a packed football stadium... I'm sure he would never believe it.
