The Beatles
#1
I’m having a weird moment. While cleaning house I put on the movie “yesterday“ from 2019. It’s about a man who wakes up and no one else has ever heard of a Beatles song. I’ve never liked the Beatles. Go ahead and throw the rotten fruit. But I’m finding that I enjoy listening to the songs in the movie. So apparently I dislike the Beatles, but I like Beatles songs. It’s weird.

Might be something in the air. Or in my case on the air. I was listening to The Beatles Channel on Sirius XM and at one point I started thinking of that movie. I've seen it twice already and will probably watch it again in the not too distant future.

There is a 2007 movie called Across The Universe that features covers of many classic Beatles songs. My wife prefers some of them to the original songs.

It’s OK.
I feel the same about Bob Dylan.
Throw fruit at me, if you want.

I know a number of people, including Frank Zappa, that disliked them because of all the marketing that was everywhere during Beatlemania. Some people disliked the early music because it was too pop-ie, according to them. But if you think of it, there came a time when the Beatles thought their early music was too pop-ie and they didn’t want to continue writing pop songs.

"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr. Epstein"
-Dick Rowe, Head of A&R, Decca Records, rejecting the Beatles.
(He later denied ever having said this)

I LOVE the Beatles

I enjoyed both Across The Universe and Yesterday, tho I did cringe at times at both.
I really did love the take on "I Want To Hold Your Hand" in Across The Universe

They are definitely an improvement over the BeeGees Sgt Pepper Movie!

Even. tho the Title Track, "Got To Get You Into My Life" by Earth Wind & Fire and Aerosmith's "Come Together" are pretty good!

I like older Bob Dylan songs, but not any of his "newer" stuff of the last 30+ years. He is also horrible in concert. One of only two concerts that I've walked out of (at Chastain Park in 1989).

That makes me feel better. I thought I was a set of one. Lol

As a singer, Dylan is a great writer. I wouldn't walk across the street to see him perform.
