Last week I revived my old G4 MDD/867 with a refurbed, recapped power supply, and have been digging into stuff on the OS9 drive. I had forgotten that at some point, I had used an application that converted old PageMaker docs into PageMaker 4.2 docs. I had a bunch of those converted files stored on one drive. These can then be converted to PageMaker 6.5, which has a plug-in for converting PM 4-6 docs. So far the oldest file I recovered dates from 1989, and that really blows my mind.

“But look, you found the notice, didn’t you?”
“Yes,” said Arthur, “yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.'"

I'll probably have to get a battery for my MDD. God knows what this n that is on it.
My biggest problem might be converting the odd AppleWorks document to something modern. Pages? I have no idea if there's anything at all I'd want to scavenge.
Ok and I've recently been re-listening to THGTTG, narrated by Stephen Fry.
A lot of fun.

Convert them to something modern, if you want to salvage them. That's about it. InDesign can open PageMaker files, and from there you can convert them to something like Affinity Publisher.. I started futzing with this after reading a post in the Affinity forums about how to recover old PM documents. Presumably would work with old Quark, too, with the right plugins, like QPMarkz.
