Colorado 970 area code
#1
Anyone from the area or know where I can find out if there are any long distance calls within the area code? I seem to remember phone companies making people pay for "long distance" calls within an area code.

I "bought" a Skypein number and I want to be sure it is a free call for anyone in the 970 area code. When I did a reverse number lookup, it says the number I bought is a Ft. Collins area phone number.

Thanks in advance.

John

So you bought a 303 or a 720 number?

a 970 number should be local, though I'd advice you to check with the phone company.

Sorry my post was a little hazy.

I bought a 970 number and I want to find out if it is a local call for everyone in the 970 area code.

I don't see why it sholdn't be.

If I've got a 720 number, I can call everyone in the 720 area code and the 303 area code.

So it makes sense that it should be a local call for anyone in the 970 area code if their dialing a 970 number.

That may not necessarily be true. One of the area codes here covers a wide area, and if I want to call, for example, the Apple store on the far north side of town, I have to dial 1 before the number even though it's the same area code as mine.

Well 303/720 was not always this way. They raised our bill $0.25/month a few years back to make all of 303 a local call (before 720 was overlayed onto 303).
