ministack– Any reason not to use it as an enclosure/hub?

Seems like a good deal. Any cons to using it without a MacMini. Just as an external enclosure/hub.

It's just a FW box. I don't see why there would be.

We actually have done some new pictures of the product sitting on the Apple cinema display stand as well as the display being on top of it, side ways in an iMac G5, etc. It's been touted as a great tool for photographers who need both additional storage and addition hub ports as they travel around, etc...etc..

While fit to the mini - it's a product that stands on it's own, great for any system - not at all tied to the Mac mini. Smile

Got a few non-logo units on special at $59 too:

I am using one like that right now with my 867 Quicksilver.

I installed a 250GB Hitachi drive and use it to do a nightly backup of the internal 200GB Seagate boot drive.

Works greatand allowed me to remove a seperate 4 port USB hub from my desk.

I've been using mine with a G5 iMac for a while, sitting on top of a NewerTech riser, for a while now. No complaints here.

Same as me Zoidberg, only mine is sitting right underneath the iMac, next to the metal stand where I've got a couple usb2 2.5" drives sitting.
