I am Sick of Phone Companies
#1
I am so sick of phone companies. The constant barrage of advertsing...it never stops. It amazes me that they approve such garbage for advertising. The cellular commercials are getting nuts as well. Cell Phones are such a huge cash cow for these companies, and the public just keeps buying into it. All the little options that they rape you on is just insane. Thats it. Thats my rant for today.

Nextel is the worst-that "Where you at?" thing is so phony and patronizing.
It's the first thing you hear when you call with a service question, or was. Maybe now they are with Sprint things will get better. But probably not, judging from the above posts.

The thing I hate about Nextel is that ridiculous beeping crap
everywhere you go and people talking into them like a
walkie-talkie. Do people really want other people to hear their
conversation? I thought Nextel was originally designed for
contractors but they have taken over the redneck race crowd
here in race country.

And as if that's not bad enough, now Cingular has come out with their "push-to-talk" capability. Frankly, I don't see the attraction (there certainly isn't one from a bystander's point of view).

I think I might have the most reason to hate Verizon of anyone here.

They wired all but 5 (of around 200) homes in our neighborhood for FiOS. Guess which group I'm in?

The infuriating part is that there is nothing different about the 5 houses - they just stopped going down one of the streets.

So, even though my neighbors can get it and that there are several in-ground fiber splicing boxes within 100 yards of my house, I am SOL.

Don't worry, you'll be hearing "at&t" very soon.

Well, if you're not up to firebombing the local Verizon office, you might just try to run an Ethernet cable from your neighbors house with FiOS down to your house. Splt the bill for the 15Mb service, you won't regret it.
