I ran out of the checks that came with my bank account, and am in need of some more for the 1-2 checks I write a year, and just to have around in case it's needed.
Anyway, I got a mailing from ChecksUnlimited.com and they have checks for $5.50 per box but I have to go through the mail to do this. Ideally I would just like to have the ease of ordering online.
Suggestions? TiA!

What's the hurry of not ordering them through postal mail if you only write 1-2 checks per year?
ArtisticChecks.com (I think) is the last place I used years ago...and the prices were low. Usually after ordering the first time (via mail) like ChecksUnlimited...you are then allowed to re-order online. Many check places are like that - first order must be 'physical'.

wait a second, what's the minimum age for opening a bank account and writing checks? I though a 13 year old kind cannot sign a check.

Well 13 for microchip was a few years ago. It used to depend on the state, there were a number where you could get checking accounts at 16. Lately, federal regulations have been used to trump state banking rules any time the banks feel that gives them an advantage. Sometimes there were some special rules for minor checking accounts such as limits on the amounts they could be written for. Basically, the same access to checks was given to some minors as would now be given to credit/debit cards.

I'm 17 now, but I got my bank account a few weeks before I turned 16.

I knew plenty on 16 year olds in HS with checking accounts, where I was from if you had ID (DL or state ID) you could write a check. Now usually your parents had to cosign the account with you but plenty of my High School friends, including me had checking accounts about the same time we got our driver's licenses.

i just checked with ClarkeAmerican.com who I usually get my check from and they offer a 75 box (instead of 150 or 200) but it was still pricey (about $20 for carbonless duplicate checks).
That promisechecks.com looks too good to be true. I write about 3 or 4 checks per month and I am down to my last one (need some for July).
Anybody else try them?

Promisechecks.com is just fine for the 1 box he needs.
Other companies are cheaper if you order 3-4 boxes at a time.

last I heard, there are less than a dozen places that print checks. Many names are actually different conduits for the same company. All the different companies that send out those first time offers are actually for 2 printing companies. Wife worked at a bank, that's how i know.
