Mom needs new car
#1
My 85 year old mom needs a new sedan (ie. 4 door) to drive the 2 blocks to the supermarket. My 16 year old son will inherit it when he goes to college. I want to buy her something new, safe, basic, and non-threatening. Low price is paramount.

Suggestions?

Thanks

I am not joking, nor am I slamming your Mom.
Have you had her take a driver skills test, and a vision test?

If she passes these test, get her a Toyota, or Honda.

Scion xB.

Seriously.

Small, easy to drive, very high seating--which means easy entry/exit. And VERY BASIC--which means inexpensive.

And it's a Toyota, which means extremely reliable.

My 73 year old mom just bought one for exactly those reasons. And she drives to and from the supermarket and putters around town.

elmo3 is correct, the xB is the best price/value/reliability vehicle out there.

Toyota was shooting for the youth market, not only hit it spot on, but also picked up the over 40 crowd, the ones that know a great bargain when they see it.

I am in the Scion/Toyota camp.
Xb, or maybe a Corolla.
Cheap, reliable, efficient.

xB is good. I love the new Civic, however. Love it! (I don't own one, however) Smile
